  • Tickets Update Sat 3 Feb

The British representatives of the Arabic Department Saifud-Deen and Iliyas went to the head of the Travel Department in the University this morning to discuss the current UK ticket situation. He did not appear to be aware of it and told them to return tomorrow morning to see what can be done, I have dealt with him several times and he is a good man and is respected by the students.

So please have patience and we will wait and see what the Head of The Travel Department says tomorrow.

If you choose to post a comment please make it constructive, I know you are all very anxious and just want to get to Madinah, but negative comments can be disheartening others, so if you write something make it beneficial or remain silent.

May Allah reward you all for your patience in your quests to seek knowledge of His religion.

  • Brits' Qatar Airways Flight Has Been Cancelled (Allahu Musta'an!)

It has come to light that the confirmed bookings that the New Brits had on Qatar Airways (Saturday 4-Feb-12) has been cancelled. The reason for the cancelation of the group booking for the 19 Brits is unclear. I phoned one of the British students from the Hadith Department a short time ago (Numan) and he will be going to the worker (Amr, From Al-Tayar Travel Agents) who booked the tickets to find out exactly what is going on.

The Islamic University of Madinah buys the tickets for its students from two different places: the Saudi Airlines tickets from the Saudi Airlines office in the University, and they buy tickets for other Airlines from Al-Tayar travel agent which has a branch on the University campus also. So the Qatar Airways tickets for the Brits were booked and purchased at the Tayar Travel Agent office in the University. The brother Amr who booked the tickets only books the tickets he does not make the decisions or pay the fines, the university admission department makes these decisions.

Some students are now stating they want to buy their own tickets, I advise you all with patience and Dua, we should wait and find out what brother Numan finds out tomorrow.

Can all the brits please email me or post a comment explaining their current sitiuation, because some students have already arrived in Madinah and some students have not been heard from in some time, and some want to buy their own tickets.

  • Qatar Airways £100 Fees Have Been Lifted

Some of the new British Students have announced that the £100 fee that Qatar airways had been requesting has been paid for, so all the new Brits can get their Qatar Airways Tickets. The flight leaves London Heathrow on Saturday 4th of February. The tickets have already been rebooked once with a lot of difficulty, so make sure you make the flight or you will probably have to pay for a new ticket from your own pocket.

  • £100 Qatar Flight Charge by Friday 20-1-12

I have been informed by a student’s father that the new British students’ Qatar Airways tickets have been rebooked for Sunday 4th of February. However he told me that Qatar Airways is saying that each student must pay £100 for the rebooking and that they must pay it by Friday 20-1-2012, i.e. today.

I is advised that you all phone Qatar Airways today before 16:30 and enquire about your ticket. The UK phone number is 0844 8468380.

I request that you all post a comment stating what you have found out and what your plan to do so to help each other out.

Whether to pay the £100 or not, I do not know what to advise you all with except to pray salatul-Istikhara. I will try to phone someone in the University Administration I know but I don’t know if it will be much help.

    May Allah Help Us All

New UK Students' Blog

This blog page has been set up for the Brits who have recently been accepted to the Islamic University of Madinah. Most of these students will be currently organising their paperwork and processing their visas.

If you wish to discuss your paperwork processing issues with other newly accepted students, or you have some useful advise why not post a comment.

It is hoped that this blog will help the new British students meet their new classmates.
